Watch Description

A Spring Drive gem inspired by Omiwatari

Most winters, Lake Suwa freezes over and, every few years, a long ridge appears in the ice from one side of the lake to the other.

Tradition has it that this is the ‘Omiwatari’ or where the gods walk out over the ice. True or not, this legend has inspired the craftsmen and women at the nearby Shinshu Watch Studio to create a dial of exquisite subtlety for this hand-winding Spring Drive timepiece. It has the color, feel and texture of the snow-covered ice on Lake Suwa and is in a silver tone. The bracelet has a nine-row construction that ensures a soft and exact fit to the wrist.

The watch is powered by Spring Drive Caliber 9R31 which has a Dual Spring Barrel that delivers a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound. Its exquisite finishing is visible through the exhibition case-back along with the power reserve indicator.

# Grand Seiko White Omiwatari SBGY013 Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Grand Seiko White Omiwatari SBGY013 is an elegant limited-edition Heritage Collection watch with a mesmerizing white dial textured to mimic the Omiwatari ice ridges forming on Japan's Lake Suwa in winter, powered by the manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 9R65 offering 72 hours of power reserve and a signature gliding seconds hand, encased in a lightweight 40mm high-intensity titanium case with Zaratsu polishing and 100m water resistance, appealing to refined collectors who value subtle artistry, precision, and Japanese horological innovation.

## Overall Watch Rating: 8.2/10.0

**Versatility Metric (8.9/10.0)** - Suitable for office, weekends, or light adventures with 100m resistance and comfortable proportions similar to a Rolex Datejust.

**Brand Metric (8.8/10.0)** - Grand Seiko commands luxury prestige through unmatched finishing and reliability, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Omega and Rolex.

**Rarity Metric (7.5/10.0)** - Limited to 2,000 pieces with market prices around $7,200, it strikes a balance like many Tudor limited releases.

**Functions Metric (4.8/10.0)** - Core timekeeping with power reserve meets daily needs adequately, on par with minimalist dress watches like the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso.

**Complications Metric (4.0/10.0)** - The practical power reserve subdial adds utility without excess, matching simple indicators in Vacheron Constantin Patrimony models.
